Detroit Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta |
Let's forget about Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun for a moment. Rodriguez is done, we're over it. Braun is giving arrogance a whole new definition.
Three players that were selected to this year's All-Star game, Detroit's Jhonny Peralta, Texas' Nelson Cruz, and San Diego's (yes, they're capable of All-Stars) Everth Cabrera are the biggest names that will likely accept suspensions handed down to them by the MLB, per Yahoo! Sports.
Plea deals are in the process of being pieced together which might allow those affected to play until the end of the season and into the playoffs.
Another Yankee, Francisco Cervelli seems to be the only other Major Leaguer who will be punished. Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon and Yasmani Grandal might not face suspension as they have already been sidelined for past offenses.
Among others that might feel the long arm of the law are minor leaguers Jesus Montero (former Yankee product), Fernando Martinez (former Met product and current Yankee farmhand) and Cesar Puello (also a Met) to ensure there is a New York feel to this Biogenesis story.
As a baseball fan I'm tired of being lied to. I would throw these guys out of the game at the drop of a hat if I had the chance to. The game has survived far worse than this, it just needs to have the right eyes on its players at all times.
