I told you Manziel was a punk

My friends are always ragging on me saying that I don't like "the fun things in sports." Let me explain by listing my favorite aspects in each of the major sports.

Baseball: Small ball a.k.a. sacrifice bunts and 'situational' hitting.
Football: A strong offensive line.
Basketball: Offensive rebounds and drawn charges.
Hockey: Successful line changes.

I hate trash talking, chest thumping, show boating and all that jazz. If you're a professional, go out there, do your job and act like you've been there before.

So when I first started watching Johnny Manziel, I think it was A&M's win over Arkansas, I think it was 58-10 the final score, I didn't like what I saw from the freshman phenom. A lot of jabbering, a lot noise. No professionalism.

Sure, he was a freshman, just an 18-year old. I said I didn't like him. My friends said, "dude, you don't like anything fun." I called him a punk again and grumbled as I didn't like what I saw from Arkansas' offensive line.

Wasn't happy he won the Heisman, wasn't happy he was getting all the attention he rightly deserved. He's a heck of a football player and does what he can to win, but if you don't have a good head on your shoulders, I don't care if you have an arm like Brady and legs like Tarkenton. I don't want you on my team.

Notice the Longhorn logo under the nipple. Yikes.
He goes and pushes that G.A. in March. Not cool, you have to appreciate everything G.A's do. They put in a lot of hard work, but I could let that slide. Practices are tough, tempers could flare.

Spring break in Cabos with a Texas Longhorns temporary tattoo on him was the last straw for me. I officially
disliked him. It's not the case of being a hater or whatever you want to call it. If I had his talents I'd be one happy son of a gun. You don't however, put anything related to your arch-rival on your body or act like a schmuck.

So March wasn't a good month for Johnny, but hey, he could turn it around. I was hopeful.

June, he goes on twitter and says he can't wait to leave College Station. At the place where he is treated like a god and has thousands of people that would kill to be him, he basically gives his fans, friends and peers a slap in the face. Smooth Johnny.

Stemming off the tattoo, he is even photographed partying at UT frat houses. Cool Johnny.

You wouldn't catch me dead partying at the University of Delaware.

And now we have the biggest doozy of them all. Signing autographs with compensation. A broker just came out saying that Manziel made about $7,500 for signing 300 helmets in January.

He doesn't need the money and I disagree that these college athletes are doing all of this for free, but rules are rules. Just follow them.

I know, Johnny. The world's against you.
He gets to sit courtside at Rockets games, play a round of golf at Pebble Beach. He just looks like a rich boy.  One of those guys that when he's with his parents ties a sweater around his neck and wears a pair of Sperrys (I just learned what those were this week. Glad I could use it in a real sentence).

If A&M is smart, I start giving the back-ups, especially Matt Joeckel a heck of a lot more reps in training camp. If anything goes down and Manziel is suspended, it doesn't matter for how long, their season is done.
